Owned and hosted by Peter and Orla, who have worked in the safari industry for many years, Chundukwa is a perfect spot from which to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Zambezi River and explore the Falls area. The lodge faces westward over the Zambezi River, overlooking the Zambezi National Park, and is set among lush riverine vegetation. The five simple but unique tree houses accommodate a maximum of twelve people and are serviced by extremely friendly and helpful staff. The latest addition to Chundukwa is the private cottage situated on a secluded spot on the Zambezi River bank. This comfortable home boasts two double or twin en-suite bedrooms, one children?s bedroom, a lounge and private dining, a deck and a rock splash pool with magnificent views of the river by day and stunning starry skies by night. The cottage comes fully staffed with a personal chef and waiter. Although Chundukwa is not a game lodge, the Zambezi National Park is located just across the river and lion and hyena calls can often be heard at night. Rich birdlife is found in the area and hippo are regularly sighted and heard along the river's edge. Fishing is good with tiger fishing featuring prominently in the warmer months. Birding in and around the lodge is superb and provides a photographer's paradise. A guided day trip to the Victoria Falls and a sunset cruise on the Zambezi are included in the rate. The lodge also offers canoe trips from one hour to an overnight island trip. This is very popular among families with older children who are looking for a true bush experience and combines very well with a stay at the lodge. All trips are expertly guided and custom-made for groups of up to six. The neighbouring property offers horse trails for beginners and half-day trips for more experienced riders. Two km from the lodge lies Mukay Village where many of the lodge staff and their children live and are happy to share their customs and way of life with visitors. A bush walk to the village and back to the lodge is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. There is a small charge and 60-percent of the proceeds go towards funding improvement projects at the village. Other activities available in the Falls area include whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, abseiling, skydiving, microlight and helicopter flights over the Falls, Reptile Park, walking safaris and clay pigeon shooting.Chundu Cottage x 1Includes: D B & BThis is a three-bedroom private cottage with sweeping river views.
