Guests often comment that it is like having the famous Tsitsikamma Otter trail all to oneself. Immediately to the south lies the pristine and rugged coast with its private little beach; to the east a dramatic drop into the forested Boschkloof; to the north a small stream gurgles through a steep valley hidden by its high indigenous forest canopy; and to the west a fynbos and forest covered hill protects the lodge and cottage from the occasional passing cold front. All this and more, lies literally within a stone?s throw of the cool shaded verandas of the two units. The tranquil inland view is of lush pastures, dairy cows, and the Tsitsikamma mountains. Bishops Cove is a half an hour drive from Storms River, the adventure sports capital of South Africa: an hour drive from Jeffreys Bay, and about 8kms from the beautiful coastal Fynbos Golf course at Eerste Rivier.Fishing and spearfishing is unfortunately prohibited whilst staying at Bishops Cove. The area is ideal for mountain biking and there is a range of hiking trails to choose from.  The more leisurely trails are merely to enable guests to enjoy the magnificent ocean and mountain views, whilst other trails will take you into the forest or along the rugged and pristine coast where there is a good chance of seeing resident Cape clawless otter, bushbuck and rare Oyster Catcher birds. Dolphins are sighted almost daily and whales are prolific in the winter months.Access to and from the N2 highway is via a 12 km gravel district road and farm road. The road is normally in good condition but the last 2 kilometers must be taken slowly in small cars.The Lodge offers four bedrooms, and a large open-plan living and dining area with a spacious modern kitchen. The living room opens up on three sides onto a covered veranda with each side having its own dramatic views of the ocean and forest.
